Tracey Connelly was the mother of Baby P who was killed on 3rd August 2007. On 11th November 2008, she was convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child and pleaded guilty to this charge. Connelly was jailed 'indefinitely' with a minimum of five years in May 2009.
For those who don't know the story of Baby P, he was a 17 month old boy who was found dead in a bloodied cot on 3rd August 2007. Despite various accidents and injuries caused to him, he was ignored by social services until he was eventually murdered.
Many events happened leading up to his death which social services chose to ignore, such as the following;
- Bruised face and chest spotted by GP in December 2006 (Connelly arrested)
- Admitted to hospital with bruises, two black eyes and swelling on his head in April 2007
- 12 areas of bruising and scratches are found in May 2007 (Connelly re-arrested)
- Injuries to face and hands are missed by a social worker in July 2007
Baby P (whose name we learned was Peter) died with more than 50 injuries, despite receiving 60 visits from social workers, healthcare professionals and police during an eight month period. They all failed to spot that Baby P was being severely abused.
This picture above is an illustration used in court to show the horrific injuries that Baby P had suffered when he was found dead in his cot on 3rd August 2007.
Despite being arrested twice for child abuse and being released, and being further arrested for causing / allowing the death of her son, a parole board has ruled that she is no longer dangerous to the public. The Mirror says she "could be freed as early as today, despite her involvement in one of the most appalling child cruelty cases in criminal history".
Connelly is due to be sent to a parole hostel where her identity will become protected, as she is having her name changed via deed poll and changing her identity.
I personally think that this is disgusting. The pain and trauma that poor Baby P went through during his short life is something that nobody should ever have to suffer. The fact that Connelly is being released after serving just six years is a joke. She could easily have another child and do it all over again - another innocent life lost. She is a danger to children and society. People like this should never be let out of prison - they should be allowed to rot in hell.
Times like this, I wish the death penalty was still allowed as Connelly certainly deserves the punishment of death for what she did to her son. She is being given 'advice' on how to prevent letting her real identity slip so that the public don't track her down and give her what she deserves.
Even her own Mother has said, "She should never come out but even if she does, I won't be seeing her again - she's out of my life." She also previously commented that her daughter should 'rot in jail'. If her own Mother thinks that and 99% of the public, why on Earth did three members of the parole board grant her release?
The criminal justice system has become a joke. Connelly and other people who have performed such horrible offences should never be put on parole. They should be sentenced to life imprisonment and have to stay there until they die. Nothing will bring Baby P back but I do not think that any justice has been given.
